Oracle unleashes x64 version of VirtualBox

Large-page support is now enabled on Intel chips with VT-x and Advanced Micro Devices AMD-V virtualization electronics, which can boost the performance of guest VMs. VirtualBox also has dynamic memory ballooning to allocate or deallocate main memory for the VM on 64-bit hosts. A feature called page fusion allows for the memory used by multiple [...]

Actually this is what that article is saying rather subtly. Here’s the deal and this is what I have said again and again when I spoke/speak of the “new middle” when it comes to the cloud computing wave. Pre-Cloud Era: Dekstop Age, Windows and the Old Economic Model (few super rich and many poor) Microsoft, [...]

By Tarry Singh at 6 January, 2010, 7:10 am
This would give Oracle stake in the desktop market dramatically. Oracle wants to be the IBM and this would beat IBM to its game and not to mention that VMware and other players will be stunned as Oracle huge and angry sales machine will go after the customers and the desktop market like never before. [...]

By Tarry Singh at 6 January, 2010, 12:42 am
Three ways to engage the cloud Capgemini’s three-pronged approach makes a lot of sense. AWS is really designed for limited enterprise workloads that are unconventional and not core to enterprise IT, says Gillettt. Thus, test-and-development scenarios, where you set it up and tear it down quickly, are ideal for the cloud. Oracle ERP in the [...]

Get all the reports on Morgan Stanley’s site! Our key takeaways are: Material wealth creation / destruction should surpass earlier computing cycles. The mobile Internet cycle, the 5th cycle in 50 years, is just starting. Winners in each cycle often create more market capitalization than in the last. By Tarry Singh at 25 September, 2009, 1:10 pm
I do agree mostly with this analysis. XenClient and Citrix’s commitment to its own hypervisor which — as some say — will be merged into Hyper-V’s own flavor, still puts Citrix to top the Virtualization game on desktop. If Gartner’s ball gazing (sic) is right, then we have some 660M PCs that wil become virtual! [...]

We haven’t covered Pano Logic is a long time. Nick Gault (CEO) is long gone, so is my friend Dione Hedgepeth (ex- VP Alliances) . I did speak to Dione a few weeks back and checked with her how she were doing and she was indeed fine with Precise Software, a cool firm with strong [...]

Well this is something so cleverly dissected that I had to mention it in my post. This is an older post from DABCC but I kind of needed it as I am collecting some data to make a big case against. Clearly this takes the cake. All I notice here is that Citrix is definitely [...]
