Data Domain to EMC: No! No! No! No!
By Tarry Singh at 15 June, 2009, 10:31 am
Well that’s how El Reg is reporting. Data Domain has rejected EMC’s and offers four reasons to say no.
The first one is that, if Data Domain talks to EMC or did not reaffirm its NetApp agreement, then NetApp could walk away leaving Data Domain bereft and at risk of EMC not completing its takeover offer. [...]
M&A Advisory: Cisco should pursue Citrix
By Tarry Singh at 9 June, 2009, 2:07 pm
Fool’s advice is what I’d give John. Citrix is (strategically) in the same position as Sun. Sun has loads of cool stuff to really kick some asses, it just needed a daddy. Citrix could benefit massively by being under Cisco’s arm. And hey don’t forget Citrix are the Xen dudes. They will eventually rock the [...]

By Tarry Singh at 4 June, 2009, 2:05 am
NetApp sources think this means EMC will not raise its bid and the implication is that this is going down to a decision by Data Domain shareholders between the two bidders, EMC or NetApp. The Data Domain board prefers that NetApp buy the company. It and NetApp have entered into a revised acquisition agreement based [...]

I told many of my analyst buddies to wait a few weeks before making any of the WTF statements on:
“Why did Oracle grab Sun?”
“Why did Oracle go for Virtual Iron?”
“Why will Oracle go for Quest/VMlogix?”*
* Speculative Forecast
Java’s acquisition and quick big-daddy forward-looking announcement say one thing for sure:
Larry knows, like all of us in the [...]
EMC gate crashes NetApp’s party; Bids $1.8 Bn for Data Domain
By Tarry Singh at 2 June, 2009, 12:44 am
That funny picture on El Reg suggests that the guy standing against the glass is EMC, a possible outsider? Anyways EMC surely didn’t want to be left out.
“Strategically, this combination will further enhance our ability to broaden EMC’s best-in-class storage portfolio for the benefit of EMC and Data Domain customers and this, in turn, will [...]

How long will it take Oracle to buy VMlogix?
By Tarry Singh at 17 May, 2009, 9:16 am
Not long given that VMlogix has two important components that could help Oracle build its own Internal Cloud or what I fondly call a IntraCloud, a primer for the private cloud environments. They are:
VMlogix Lab Manager
VMlogix Stage Manager
Obviously that is not the only reason for Oracle [or for that matter other virtualization wannabe to go [...]

This is a pretty nice write-up. A lot is happening in the industry, when we were thinking that HP/EDS deal could be killing for the industry, we had Oracle come in stealthily and stole Sun away under IBM’s nose. Now we have couple of firms, well actually Cisco only here, that might be offering the [...]

Update 1:
10th March 2009 we told you that Oracle had snapped Virtual Iron. So truly believe what I am saying, seeing and hearing
We did cover this sometime back stating that Oracle had bought Virtual Iron. This El Reg article confirms that news, no matter how belated it may come out.
Oracle put out a [...]
M&A Teaser: Rackable grabs bankrupt SGI for $42M
By Tarry Singh at 2 May, 2009, 3:40 am
Rackable itself is a teaser and waiting for a potential acquisition. As the current market scatters, we will see a lot of talent and engineers going in all directions. Some will end up being absorbed by firms and others will begin a new venture and re-surface in the form of new firms. Rackable has been [...]
