MAYNARD, Mass., Aug. 26, 2009 – Stratus Technologies will be demonstrating cloud and virtual appliance solutions that support critical functions within these infrastructures at VMworld, the company announced today. Showcasing the just-announced line of Stratus® ftServer® systems and latest version of Stratus® Avance™ high-availability software with built-in virtualization, these availability appliances will include:
* Microsoft SharePoint services
* Microsoft System Center management software
* VMware vCenter management software
“The cloud supports on-demand services for large numbers of users, and its ability to do this rests with the availability of operations-critical infrastructure management software,” said Denny Lane, Stratus director of product management. “These purpose-built appliances use Stratus hardware, software and services to deliver the availability and performance so essential to critical cloud operations.”
Stratus will be assisted in its VMworld booth (#1526) by Microsoft to demonstrate the cloud appliances, as well as Microsoft SQL Server on Stratus ftServer systems. VMware will be on hand, as well, to show VMware vSphere virtualization software on Stratus fault tolerant servers.
The company’s newest Nehalem-based ftServer line was announced yesterday. Avance 1.6 software was launched two weeks earlier on Aug. 10. Both products provide best-in-class availability in support of business-critical and mission-critical business processing.
