Get that kid out of war!

Get that kid out of war!

Dear All,

My book ( http://www.packtpub.com/oracle-vm-manager-2-1-2/book ) on Virtualization (which also discusses on building and managing Elastic Data Center) is about to get published. I will be in San Francisco for the signing event as well. Hopefully I may also do a keynote/session. We are still working on that.

What is different about my Virtualization book?

I have long wanted to differentiate from the rest and that I achieved by writing a book which is on a different league. Most of you are already seeing a lot of books (many repeats actually) on VMware. I was contemplating of doing something more exciting on VMware, focus on apps and I did that by writing detailed articles of building Oracle RAC on VMware. Anyways so this book is different than the rest.

What does it have to do with War Child ( http://www.warchild.org/ )?

But I wasn’t satisfied. I was born and brought up in India. I have seen abject poverty while my own childhood was rather luxurious. My dad was in the marines and we had a great life. I have never been able to understand why a kid has to suffer. WHY? As if that [extreme poverty] wasn’t enough, putting the kids through the horrors of war is absolutely unthinkable. Getting them a book and a school is what my vision is, getting them out of war is my lifetime mission.

I love technology and surely hope that you will get that book for the sheer hard work that I put in to make it fun for you all while you learn new technologies. But do also know that if somewhere, someplace a kid is getting a better life, it is YOU who is making it happen. I will give 50% of my royalties to the foundation.

Thanks heaps for listening.

Tarry
